    Animals and vet cost

Well I just got my 3 cats fixed and what a shock it was to see the increase in cost. I payed $130.00 a cat to have them spayed.  About 10 years ago I payed $45.00, what a jump in price!!! I cannot belive that the government no longer has plans for getting your cat fixed, especially when the cat and dog population is so high.  In Saskatchewan there used to be plans for us that helped with the costs of animals to bring down the problem but it seems they are more concerned with putting them down than helping with the problem. I heard not long ago from someone that they found a dead dog on the street and the humian society told them there was a fee for taking the animal to cremate the animal. Another person told me they found a animal that was in need of being put down and again there was a fee assocated with that too. I know that the government does not have anything to do with the animal shelters but these are problems for people who just want to do the right thing in general. Many people cannot afford to fix their animal right away and the animal is free to make litters over litters. Really I don't see this as their fault, everyone deserves a animal if their intention is to love the animal and care for it.  My cousin took in a cat that was treated unkindly and she cannot afford to have the animal spayed, but without her that cats fate is sealed. If only there was more help out there for people who even needed to get their animal expensive surgery, again there is private plans but you must have known about this plan before you animal was a certain age.  This is so sad that many vets do not even accompany people with payment options that would help them to get the help for their animal rather than leaving the next option of euthization.  Most vets will offer payment options by month but only if it is an emergency case. My vet offered me monthly payment options and was helpful with taking calls about my animals without charging me for the call like some vets do. You figure if this is their profession they should be a little more compassionate for the animals and the concerned owners who in end just want to do the right thing.  Heck even take my credit card number for insurance encase you feel I won't pay the fees. (SIGH) Unfortunatly the problem with only become worse over time and so many animals will be on the other end of the stick to get the garbage that comes with it. More and more you hear animals dumped on farms or kittens or puppies in garbages, not to meantion the overwhemling amount of animals at the shelters that will never see day again. This is really sad.     This is my rant....
